4th of July Events in Chico 2010

Looking for a great way to enjoy this year’s 4th of July in Chico? Start the morning off with the 2010 Independence Day 5k run through Bidwell Park, stay for a pancake breakfast and Do-It Leisure vendor fair; along with a patriotic performance by a fife and drum band and the Chico Community Band, a horseshoe contest, a Marie Callendar pie-eating contest, and the Let Freedom Ring ceremony at 11am. Guest speakers include Congressman  Wally Herger, Butte County Supervisor Maureen Kirk and Chico May Ann Schwab. Into the afternoon enjoy family oriented games and live blues music by the Midnight Blues Society. After heading home to barbecue with the family or cool off in the pool, head to Chico States Nettleton Baseball Stadium and watch a Chico Outlaws game against the St. George Roadrunners starting at 6:35pm and stay to enjoy the fireworks show after the game. Tickets range $7-$14. If baseball isnt your families game, head to the Silver Dollar Raceway to watch the Golden State Challenge sprint cars and street stocks. Gates open at 5pm and cossts $18 adults, $12 youth. The highlight of the night will be the spectacular fireworks show scheduled to follow the races.
