Chico Dining

Chico is a town full of dining secrets. Often, the best places to eat are small takeout joints hidden from main streets, tucked in a basement or out in some residential neighborhood. Although a lot of great food comes from these small places, Chico is also known to have many easily accessible restaurants that offer a unique and delicious atmosphere.
Home to the award-winning Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Chico has become known for it’s fine beer, which has become a common feature for many restaurants, bars grills, and clubs.
Many restaurants have elevated the standard of fine dining in Chico, such as Johnny’s, Black Crow Grill & Taproom, and 5th Street Steak House. In addition, Chico is filled with many popular hotdog, pizza, and sandwich joints, all reasonably priced, and only found in Chico.
Though American food is popular, Mexican food has made its mark as one of Chico’s best dishes. Large Mexican restaurants, such as Tres Hombres or Tortilla Flats, are some of Chico’s most popular. However, small Mexican kitchens inside trailers, called Taco Trucks, can be found dotting many business parking lots in downtown Chico. Though they don’t have the restaurant flare, the authentic food and low prices sure makes up for it.
Chico dining can satisfy a range of cravings, from Thai to Greek to Japanese, but pay attention to your eyes and ears as well, because some of the best food joints may be hiding.
